Position Summary
Under the direction of the Art Museum Asst. Manager/Curator and Curatorial Assistant, the Curatorial/Collections Management Intern will engage in tasks related to both exhibition planning and the management of the museum's collection. This internship integrates museum studies practices regarding collection care and museum database systems.
Essential Functions
● Assist in organizing and preparing for exhibitions, including the installation and dismantling of displays.
● Support in maintaining the museum's inventory, ensuring accurate records, and performing regular basic condition checks and documentation.
● Utilize collection management software to update database records and assist with data migration projects as necessary.
● Shadow Art Museum Asst. Manager/Curator and Curatorial Assistant in meetings and participate in the development of new museum policies/procedures.
● Conservation and Recovery Project:
○ Assist in the cataloging and assessment of permanent collection items currently on loan to city offices, ensuring accurate documentation and condition records.
○ Support the coordinated effort to collect and prepare these artworks for relocation to the new city hall building, ensuring their safe transport and handling.
○ Participate in the installation of artwork within the new city hall, collaborating with museum staff to ensure pieces are appropriately displayed according to curatorial standards.
○ Aid in the basic cleaning and maintenance of artworks throughout the project to preserve the integrity of each piece.
○ Work on creating descriptive labels for each piece, ensuring informational accuracy and consistency with museum standards.
○ Collaborate with the Asst. Manager/Curator and Curatorial Assistant to align the project's execution with the museum's standards and guidelines for exhibition and public engagement.

Typical Physical/Mental Demands/ Working Conditions
● Light physical effort in both office and gallery environments, involving the handling of art objects, some requiring carrying up to 50 pounds.
● Intermittent sitting, standing, and walking. Occasional exposure to stress from meeting project deadlines. Some weekend and evening work required for special events and installation projects.
Minimum Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
Education: Current enrollment in an accredited college or university, having completed at least the freshman year. Preferred majors include Art History, Museum Studies, or related disciplines.
Experience: Demonstrated positive work experience with no terminations for cause. Volunteer involvement in museums or cultural heritage projects is advantageous. Art handling experience preferred but not required
Licenses and/or Certifications: Must possess a valid driver license and maintain it throughout employment.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge of:
● Art historical research methods.
● Workable knowledge of Google Suite and Adobe Software
Ability to:
● Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
● Establish and maintain effective relationships with the public and staff.
● Prioritize tasks and work efficiently under pressure.
● Manage multiple projects simultaneously.
● Willingness to learn museum management software and general office technology.
Additional Internship Information
Applicants must provide transcripts indicating proof of academic standing, degree major, and current enrollment at the time of application submission. Interns must remain enrolled and attend school to maintain eligibility. This internship is temporary, offered for the Summer 2025 or Fall 2025 semester, requiring availability for weekends, evenings, and varied schedules as needed.
Transportation/Housing: Interns are responsible for their own transportation to and from work and arranging their housing.
College/University: The college/university advisor will coordinate with the City of St. George Internship Coordinator to ensure educational requirements are achieved and stay in communication to monitor intern progress. On-site visits are encouraged.
