Position Summary
Under the general direction of the Technical Theater Coordinator, directs the vocals and choreography of the Town Square Summer Performance Group (The PIPS).

1. Assists the work of other part time employees and volunteers during assigned shifts or tasks
2. Assists and facilitates effective and efficient communication between The PIPS cast members and other related staff.
3. Arranges for, promotes, and runs the auditions for cast members.
4. In concert with and approval of Technical Theater Coordinator, selects cast members from those participating in the audition process.
5. In concert with and with the approval of Community Arts Manager, assists in creating and adapting original song and dance numbers for public performance.
6. Assists in creating rehearsal schedule with City staff so that the needs of cast members are met and the cast is prepared for performances. .
7. Rehearses cast members including blocking, polishing, choreography and vocal coaching.
8. Assists cast in show preparation/selection for each weeks performances.
9. Assists Director at performances as required to include Movie in the Park, Concert in the Park hospitality, Town Square Performances, all PIPS in the Park activities, and 4th of July Event.
10. Works with Technical Theater Coordinator to learn and train cast members in set up and operation of sound equipment.
11. Works with City Education Specialists to learn, train cast members in, and lead weekly art activity as needed.
12. Drives mobile museum to city locations and assists with set up and preparation for weekly art activities.
13. Supports other division and department programs and activities as needed.
14. Perform related duties as assigned.
Typical Physical/Mental Demands/Working Conditions
Conditions and temperatures may vary depending on the assignment. Requires the use of vision and/or hearing to identify and evaluate emergencies. Must be able to respond quickly and appropriately to emergencies. Requires moderately heavy physical activity exerting 25-50 pounds of force occasionally and/or 10-25 pounds of force frequently. Mental demands of intermittent exposure to stress as a result of human behavior.
Note: Must be available to work weekends, evenings, holidays, and other schedules to help prepare for
recreation offerings. This is a part-time position with variable hours averaging less than 28 hours per week over a period of twelve months.
Minimum Qualifications
Qualifications
Education: High school diploma or equivalent. Preference given to those with education in recreation or a related field.
Experience:
· Related work experience in a responsible setting, preferably one that has performance and stage presence as well as directing experience.
· Customer service experience preferred
Licenses and/or Certifications:
· Must possess a valid driver license. A valid Utah Driver License must be obtained within 60 days of hire and be maintained throughout employment.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge of:
· General Knowledge of Recreation and Leisure Activities and Programming Practices preferred
· Basic sound system knowledge
· Computer and computer programs
Skills:
· Highly motivated

· Computer literate
Ability to:
· Must be able to work evening and weekends as required.
· Set-up and operate sound support system.
· Organize and set-up various auditions, events and meeting activities

· Establish and maintain effective working relations with those contacted in scope of work, e.g., city staff, cast members, general public, etc
