Position Summary
Under the general direction of the Technical Theater Coordinator, directs the vocals, choreography, and scheduling of the Town Square Summer Performance Group (The PIPS).

1. Oversees the work of other part time employees and volunteers during assigned shifts or tasks
2. Leads and facilitates effective and efficient communication between The PIPS cast members and other related staff.
3. Arranges for, promotes, and runs the auditions for cast members.
4. In concert with and approval of Technical Theater Coordinator, selects cast members from those participating in the audition process.
5. In concert with and approval of Community Arts Manager, creates and adapts original song and dance numbers for public performance.
6. Creates rehearsal schedule with city staff so that the needs of cast members are met and the cast is prepared for performances.
7. Rehearses cast members including blocking, polishing, choreography and vocal coaching.
8. Leads cast in show preparation/selection for each weeks performances.
9. Supervises performances as required to include Movie in the Park, Concert in the Park hospitality, Town Square Performances, all PIPS in the Park activities, and 4th of July Event. Works with Technical Theater Coordinator to learn and train cast members in set up and operation of sound equipment.
10. Works with City Education Specialists to create, learn, train cast members in, and lead weekly art activity as needed.
11. Drives mobile museum to city locations and leads set up and preparation for weekly art activities.
12. Supports other division and department programs and activities as needed.
13. Perform related duties as assigned.
Typical Physical/Mental Demands/Working Conditions
Conditions and temperatures may vary depending on the assignment. Requires the use of vision and/or hearing to identify and evaluate emergencies. Must be able to respond quickly and appropriately to emergencies. Requires moderately heavy physical activity exerting 25-50 pounds of force occasionally and/or 10-25 pounds of force frequently. Mental demands of intermittent exposure to stress as a result of human behavior.
Note: Must be available to work weekends, evenings, holidays, and other schedules to help prepare for recreation offerings. This is a part-time position with variable hours averaging less than 28 hours per week over a period of twelve months.
Minimum Qualifications
Qualifications
Education: High school diploma or equivalent. Preference given to those with education in recreation or a related field.
Experience:
Related work experience in a responsible setting, preferably one that has performance and stage presence as well as directing experience.
Customer service experience preferred
Licenses and/or Certifications:
Must possess a valid driver license. A valid Utah Driver License must be obtained within 60 days of hire and be maintained throughout employment.
